One year to go until the Olympic Games 2012
27 Jul 2011
The countdown has begun in earnest: today it's just one
year to go to London 2012. And from tomorrow we'll be
counting down days, not years, to the Opening Ceremony of the
Olympic Games.
The sported. team are excited about the year to come and all the
plans we have for working with voluntary and community groups to
help them become increasingly business savvy. So ultimately they
can do what they do best which is improving the lives of
disadvantaged young people through sport. We say; let the Olympics
inspire more and more young people in our communities to get
involved and improve their lives through sport and sported. intends
to be there step by step supporting these young people through our
Member organisations.
Some information below from the London 2012 Organising Commitee
on what they have going on today, one year from the Games...
LOCOG
have got some very special events lined up to mark the day
including the first swim in the Aquatics Centre pool and, this
evening, the first dive - by none other than double Commonwealth
gold medallist and London 2012 hopeful Tom Daley.
Tonight in Trafalgar Square, International Olympic Committee
President Jacques Rogge will invite the world's athletes to compete
in the London 2012 Games. Olympic dreams will start to come into
real focus as the world turns its attention to London.
Join in the celebrations now online on the LOCOG website and on BBC1
tonight from 7pm. Watch the video where Jonathan Edwards gives
an exclusive sneak peek from inside the Aquatics Centre.
