sported. provides grants to West Midlands based projects

Three West Midlands based community sports projects have recently been provided grants from sported. following Mentor led capacity building support.


Grants were awarded to the following organisations:


- Canley Community Association - £6,379

sported. are funding a sports programme being run in the Canley area of Coventry that aims to break down barriers between local young people and the Police through the involvement of the local Police force. This is the first ever sports project aimed at young people led by this community based charity and has been developed with support of their sported. Mentor.


- The Discovery of Talents - £10,000

Following Mentor support this project, set up and ran by former asylum seekers, will see the development of a sports project in Inner-city Birmingham aimed at young people arrived in Birmingham as asylum seekers. The funding will see an initial 28 weeks of activities in a range of sports, with further support aiming to make the project sustainable.


- Nuneaton Club for Young People - £4,080

Addressing the lack of females involved in the activities they lead Nuneaton Club for Young People have successfully applied for funding from sported.'s main grant programme for the development of a dance project that will see the installation of electronic dance equipment and a range of ongoing related activities at the Club.
