Coventry based sported. members benefit from grant funds

Coventry based community sports projects have recently been
provided grants from sported. following 6 months of Mentor led
capacity building support.
Grants were awarded to the following organisations:
- Coventry Boys Club - £14,250
Funds have been awarded over a 2-year period that will support
the continued employment of the charity's Club Leader, with the aim
of extending the sports activities the Club offers. The grant has
also, with additional funds obtained from Sport England, enabled
the Club to replace an ageing Boxing Ring and purchase a range of
Boxing equipment.
- The Grangers - £1,490
The grant from sported. is assisting The Grangers increase the
number of young people they support through the provision of
additional transport offered to attendees of the Club sessions they
offer. It will also contribute to the cost of a trained sports
coach leader sessions at the Club on a fortnightly basis.
- Salle Ursa Fencing Club - £7,000
With the support of sported. Salle Ursa is hold two Open Days in
Coventry to extend their reach to new areas of the City, with match
funds being requested through Sportsmatch to replicate these Open
Days in Warwickshire. Part of the grant will also be spent on
purchasing fencing equipment, lighting and staging to enable the
Club to generate income through larger scale fencing events and
displays.
- Walsgrave Rest & Play - £8,000
sported. are now supporting the core costs of this project for a
2-year period. With existing project funds soon coming to an end
the organisation is in need of diversifying its grant sources to be
able to continue the services they offer to the local community.
The grant from sported. will help cover the cost of running the
organisation, including contributing to the salary of the Project
Coordinator during this period whilst alternative funds are
researched and obtained.
