19 Mar 2012
sported. is pleased to announce that through its ongoing
one-to-one business support and a grant of £7,915, West Country
Hawks will officially launch their new wheelchair club on Saturday
24th March 2012, at 2.30pm, at the Plymouth Life Centre.
With the support of sported. Mentor Lee Robertson, the club's
volunteers have produced a three year development plan that
outlines West Country Hawks long term vision of creating
sustainable wheelchair rugby opportunities and a means of accessing
competition for wheelchair users.
The West Country Hawks are the only wheelchair rugby club in
Devon and Cornwall, and will provide much needed opportunity for
wheelchair users to participate in this Paralympic sport.
Julian Wills, sported. Regional Manager South West said "This is
a fantastic project, which will create sporting opportunities for
wheelchair users in Plymouth and the counties of Cornwall and
Devon. Lee has worked extremely hard mentoring the enthusiastic
team of volunteers at West Country Hawks, and helping them to
achieve their dream of launching this club."
