"Sport for Social Change Award” for The Dracaena Centre

The Dracaena Centre, based in Falmouth, were presented with the
South West "Sport for Social Change Award 2011" by sported.
Regional Manger Julian Wills at the Cornwall Sports Awards Ceremony
held at The Atlantic Hotel, Newquay.
The event that was compared by Pirate FM presenter Neil Caddy,
was attended by over 200 people, including special guest former
England rugby captain Phil de Glanville. The Dracaena Centre were
presented the award for their contribution to the development of
community sport and impact on opportunities for young people in and
around the Penwerris estate in Falmouth.
Richard May, The Dracaena Centre Manager said "We are honoured
to have received this award, and are delighted that the work we are
doing has been recognised in such a way. We are all about
partnership working and providing the right sports opportunities to
help our community develop."
Julian commented "It was a pleasure to present the award to
Richard May and Jamie Tresidder from The Dracaena Centre. They have
worked extremely hard to develop opportunities in the community,
using sport as the tool for social engagement."
