Special Olympics Exeter and District Club volunteer and partner recruitment event proves a huge success

Special Olympics Exeter and District Club hosted a volunteer and partner recruitment event at the Riverside Leisure Centre, Exeter on Tuesday 4th September. The event brought together a number of key partners from the city including Active Devon and Exeter Lions, and over 15 volunteers keen to help with the development of the new club.

Active Devon provided volunteer training through the Sport Makers delivery programme, with presentations from Exeter Lions and Julian Wills, sported. South West Regional Manager.

The evening's event culminated in the opportunity for attendees to have their photographs taken with the Olympic torch.

The club is now in a strong position to formally constitute and plan the delivery of sports activities for young people and adults with learning disabilities. With the support of sported Mentor James Bogue the club anticipates starting to deliver activities in the new year.
