The Olympic Torch comes to sported. Member the BIZ
26 Jul 2012
The Official Torch that toured the Egham area when the Olympic
Torch Relay visited town last week set off from the BIZ based at
the Runnymede Centre in Addlestone on 19 July to do a local
tour.
P&G Associate and Chair of the BIZ, Dr Brian Perry
accompanied the Torch as it left the BIZ and visited three local
schools before finishing its tour back at the BIZ.
The Olympic Torch has 8,000 holes representing 8,000
Torchbearers, 8,000 miles will be travelled. It is 800mm tall and
now an Olympic Torch has been photographed with and individually
handled by 800 children in Runnymede thanks to P&G.
Liz Woolford, Development Manager, SCC, Children & Young
People in Care (one of the schools visited on the tour) sadi: "Most
of the children had their photo taken with the Torch. There was a
queue of eager young people looking forward to getting a hold, all
were amazed that it was real."
