sported. Member packs a punch and wins High Sheriff Award
20 Dec 2011
It is with great pleasure that we can announce that The Boxing
Inclusion Zone (The BIZ) in Surrey has been awarded Sports Project
of the Year 2011 in a new award from the High Sherriff of
Surrey.
The BIZ was a project developed to promote physical fitness,
reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, encourage volunteering and
encourage leadership qualities. They were given the awarded based
on their work with young people and the reduction in youth-related
crime in the area. Representatives from the BIZ in Addlestone
Surrey, attended an awards ceremony in Guildford in November to
receive their award.
Dr Brian Perry, chairman of the BIZ said: 'It was a tremendous
achievement for everyone involved at the gym. We are immensely
proud and honoured to be the first recipient of this prestigious
award. Our success is down to the hard work of the team of
volunteers in any capacity for the club.'
The awards were organised by Active Surrey in partnership with
the High Sheriff Youth Awards. The brand new award was designed to
recognise a sports project that has tackled bad behaviour with the
aim of making a community safer and giving young people a sporting
focus.
