sported. in Scotland contributes to Scottish Parliament Inquiry
04 Sep 2012
sported. recently made a submission to the Scottish Parliament's
Health and Sport Committee's inquiry into support for community
sport. The inquiry addressed three main themes:
- The contribution of people - focusing on the role of
volunteers - and looking at how to ensure they have the
opportunities and support necessary to best contribute to sport at
a local level.
- The benefit of local sports clubs both to (i) the preventative
health agenda and (ii) their communities.
- The importance of places for sport, in terms of availability,
accessibility, affordability, and the quality of facilities.
sported.'s contribution highlighted our own experience in these
areas and also signposted good practice that we have seen in
Scotland and other parts of the UK.
The paper and other responses can be found here.
As part of the inquiry sported. have been invited to address the
committee at the Scottish Parliament on 25th September
