Newcastle Fund

Deadline 12 October 2012

The City Council wishes to support initiatives which build community capacity and resilience in two areas:
• Prevention: projects that support vulnerable individuals or communities, and help them to avoid the need to access more intensive statutory services, by addressing needs which would otherwise require more substantial intervention
• Inclusion:  projects that build the capacity of people to live a fulfilled life, making the most of their potential, and avoiding people from becoming excluded from society

The fund is likely to be oversubscribed and applicants should be aware that last year the average grant made was £20,000. Projects must evidence that they will be delivered from a local base within the Newcastle area, and can deliver good outcomes for people, efficiently, and on the basis of a good understanding of need. The project you propose can be for new or existing activity and can cover core costs (those costs necessary to keep your organisation running) or project costs (those costs associated with delivering a project). You can apply for funds to cover from 1 April 2013 for up to three years. If your project is longer than 12 months then the need for longer-term funding must be clearly demonstrated, through a multi-year programme of activity, incorporating evidence of efficiencies over the period.
