Basketball World Record Attempt

On October 13th from 1pm - 5pm at the Chase Sports and Fitness
Centre, sported. Member Southend YMCA is part of
an exciting global record breaking attempt.
Not many people know that the YMCA invented basketball back in
1891 and to celebrate this, Southend YMCA alongside YMCAs from all
over the world, will be trying to achieve 5 million people
worldwide all shooting hoops simultaneously!
The fantastic Swifts Basketball team will be on hand to guide and
coach participants, helping them throw balls and trying to ensure
the world record is smashed!
Nav Oojageer otherwise known as The Bald MC will be DJ-ing and
there'll be lots of taster sessions for other activities for people
to enjoy such as lazer combat, power hooping, yoga, military
fitness, Capoeira, military fitness training and more…
Anyone can be part of this world record attempt and all
participants will receive a certificate of participation as a
keepsake, acknowledging their part in this world record
It'll be a family friendly event and all age groups are
Entry is £5 and includes automatic entry into a prize draw and
everyone joining in on the record attempt will receive a
certificate of participation. Tickets are available on the door on

30 young people aged 11 upwards who are part of Southend YMCA's
TEAM YP sports program will be fundraising for this event and
attempting challenges such as shooting as many hoops as possible or
even wearing fancy dress.
