There are five steps to volunteering with sported.:
1. Complete the online application form,
selecting Mentor or Expert at the top of the form. Or both
if you're flexible!
2. If your online application form meets the criteria for the
role you're interested in, our Regional Manager for your region of
the UK will contact you for an initial interview over the phone or
in person. They will go over your application in more detail with
you and answer your questions. If you are both happy that the role
will suit you, they will take the details of a referee they can
contact.
3. On receipt of your reference the Regional Manager will
confirm whether or not you have been provisionally accepted onto
the sported. induction stage.
4. If you have been accepted, you will need to book onto one of
our induction sessions to get ready to start your role. Upon
completion of your induction session, the Regional Manager will
confirm whether or not you have been accepted onto the sported.
team.
5. Once trained, we will keep you informed about projects or
pieces of work that seem to suit your knowledge, skills, interests,
location and availability. You will always have the opportunity to
say whether or not you want to take on the work, and you should
keep us informed of your availability so that we don't contact you
when you're busy. Matching volunteers to our Member needs is a
complicated and very important process, and is usually undertaken
quarterly, so there are likely to be periods when we don't have any
hands-on work for you. During these periods, if you're willing, we
may ask you to help us develop our national processes, or consult
with us on a 'How-to' guide in your area of expertise, to go online
for our Members to access.
