A pitch. A court.

A track. A grassroots club.

An inspirational coach.

A helping hand.

A golden opportunity... taken.

Sport doesn’t just create superstars and champions. It transforms lives for the better.

In communities across the UK, sports clubs and groups are opening doors and impacting on millions of lives.

Sometimes, they’re even saving them too. But it’s tougher than ever to keep the lights on. Cost pressures mean the local heroes who run these groups have to fight every day to pay the bills and ensure their gates stay open. And more and more kids are being shut out in the cold by fees or other costs when Mum or Dad can’t foot the bill. That’s the risk of an opportunity lost. Forever.

Sported is here to make sure no-one is standing on the sidelines, so that our next generation can have a better chance in life.

Our aim is to ensure that every community has access to the life-changing benefits of sport, so we support over 5,000 grassroots sports clubs and community groups aims to ensure that they are:

More sustainable

Not living hand to mouth, at risk of closures.

More inclusive

Able to offer opportunities for all.

Achieving maximum impact

Improve health and wellbeing, reduce crime, teach life-skills, build stronger communities.

We focus our support on the clubs which need our support most – off the radar, in areas of deprivation or in underserved communities. And those considered unreachable by others, falling between the gaps within the wider funding sector.

As well as our work with clubs, we also deliver programmes and projects. They connect people and organisations to work together in a place or on a topic, creating positive outcomes with an approach designed by the community, for the community.

For both clubs and for communities we do this by delivering funding, capacity building, training & education programmes, and research & advocacy.
